15 AUGUST 2024

On August 15th, I had the honor of sharing my personal experiences as an Olympic athlete and a coach for windsurfing and sailing to students from Phumitham School. We discussed why we participate in beach cleanups and how people lived in the past without plastic bags. The kids listened attentively, with many taking notes and several raising their hands to ask questions. They were bold in their thinking and expression, yet full of respect and humility.

We spent time together collecting and sorting trash, ready to transform it into coasters and plant pots. While we were cleaning,Bibb Sabhavasu unexpectedly joined us and shared the story of Mariam and the charm of dugongs with the students.

Before leaving, I presented keychains made from trash, crafted by Ariya Wichithong, and dishwashing liquid made from lemon peels by the community enterprise group that transforms waste into beneficial products for marine conservation in the district.

This group of students will be going to learn sailing in Optimist boats, which promotes positive thinking and is highly beneficial for youth. It helps them understand nature and decision-making, skills they can apply in their lives.

Take Care Kids

After this group of children learned about the impact of single use plastic waste on marine life, they can’t wait to help collect marine waste to aid the turtles without hesitation, whether it was sunny or rainy. Thank you and love
